02 Mar “Adopt – Don’t shop!”
According to the humane society, 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized in the United States each year. That number is so large because there are too many pets being brought to shelters that are at capacity and too little people are adopting. The saying “Adopt – Don’t shop” is fairly popular but some people just aren’t aware of the benefits of animal adoption.
The benefits of adopting animals:
Saves lives.
Adopt one dog, save two lives. You’re saving the life of the animal you’re adopting and you’re freeing up space at the shelter for them to accept more animals.
Costs less.
The difference in cost is so significant that it can be the sole reason you decide to adopt. The price to buy a pet can range from $500 to $1,000 and the cost to adopt can range from $50 to $200.
You choose.
There are animals of all ages up for adoption and you’ll have the opportunity to choose the age of your pet. The younger cats and dogs are cute but they are a lot more work to supervise and house train. The older ones are more than likely house trained.
Unconditional love.
You and your pet will have a bond unlike anything else. They will make you happy with their unconditional love and affection.
