19 Jun Beat The Heat For Your Car!
There is nothing worse than getting in your car on one of those 90 degree days and not being able to breathe. Even if you keep your car in the garage, there are still those days when you are out running errands and your car is sitting in the parking lot with no shade. Here are some problems us at Sava have faced on those July days and some quick tips to help avoid them!
Hot Steering Wheel
Even if you only run into the store for 20 minutes, the steering wheel seems to feel like you have left it directly in the sun for 2 days. Rotating the steering wheel 180 degrees after you park will expose the side of the wheel that you don’t touch, setting you up for a much more comfortable drive on your way back home.
The Smell
The heat can expose some smells in your car that may not be what you want to experience after a long day at work. Instead of springing for an unnatural air freshener, try attaching a dryer sheet to one of your air conditioner vents to freshen up the air as it’s circulating throughout the car (and its cheaper!)
Overheating
Check and top off your coolant in the spring to avoid any problems come summertime. Pay careful attention to your dashboard for any warning signs of your engine running too hot, you don’t want it to be too late!
Paint Fading
Just like when you leave your favorite hot pink t shirt in the sun, your car’s exterior paint can fade after a while. Try to find shade under a tree or overhang when parking outside if you don’t have an indoor option.
We hope these tips are helpful and if you have any questions about your car insurance give us a call at Sava! 860-437-7282
