October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every October, people all over the world show their support and love for those who have been affected by breast cancer.

Over the last 16 years, the SAVA Team, AKA The SAVA Sole Sisters, kicks-off Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation (TBBCF) Walk across Southeastern CT. The TBBCF was established in 2006 by two friends, Norma Logan and Sandy Maniscalco, who realized the need for a new kind of fundraising organization. It was established to honor Terri Brodeur, who succumbed to the disease in 2005 after a two-year battle with breast cancer. Norma died of breast cancer six months after Terri.

The TBBCF is a local nonprofit organization dedicated to providing critical funding to researchers investigating breast cancer cures and patient treatment options. The foundation is founded on the pledge to deliver 100% of its gross fundraising dollars to breast cancer science and since its inception, has delivered on that promise. See their 2022 grant recipients here.

The TBBCF is near and dear to the SAVA Team as 1 in 8 women (and 1 in 833 men!), along with their families and loved ones, will face breast cancer in their lifetime. We encourage you to visit the TBBCF website to find out how you can get involved or donate to this wonderful organization – www.tbbcf.org.
