SAVA’s First Podcast!

Some SAVA History for You

SAVA Insurance was purchased back in 1998 as an independent insurance agency and has grown to have over 20 different carriers in both personal and commercial lines. We are very excited to be celebrating our 20th anniversary this September, and we are so grateful to our loyal clients who have been with us since the beginning, we have almost 900 clients that have stayed with us since we opened our doors!

We also have big anniversaries for our employees as well this year – our Vice Presidents Debbie Yother and Diana Buscetto as well as our Personal Lines Account Manager Chris Spivey are celebrating their 20 years with the company, and Personal Lines Account Manager Amy Baker is celebrating her 10 year! We pride ourselves on our customer service, making sure we take the time to educate and protect you, and these extraordinary women go above and beyond to do just that! But don’t just take our word for it, take our clients’, who send us over 500 referrals a year!

Testimonials

“Diana has been absolutely wonderful with helping me with commercial insurance coverage. I had so many questions and she answered every one – many more than once due to my lack of knowledge. Everything was explained to me with the utmost patience – no matter how many times I needed it explained. Thanks for making everything so easy!!!”

Kathy D. Andrew Keena & Sons Inc. from Westerly, RI

“I felt that Debbie was attentive and on top of my request and gave me important information that I could use. Her referral of a lawyer that I could call due to a recent accident I had was great. I switched Insurance agencies because I didn’t feel I had a enough guidance during a critical time when I needed good service. When a coworker recommended SAVA I knew I had to call.”

Brenda P. from Old Saybrook, CT

“Sava is my company, because that’s where Chris is! She is the best insurance person I have ever known, and she has so much skill and patience. She treats us like family instead of numbers. She is approachable, always has time for a question, and is willing to explain things to us “non-insurance” people, because she really wants us to understand our insurance. Why would anyone ever go anywhere else???”

–Personal Lines Client from Clinton, CT

“My thanks and appreciation to Ms. Amy Baker for the exceptional attention and care she has for my account. I am always alerted ahead of time of my policies becoming due, so that she and I can discuss any changes that I may need to make. This kind of professionalism is why I have been a client of Sava Insurance for over 20 years”

-Linda L. from Fairfield, CT

SAVA in the Community

Our motto here at SAVA is “Guided by Heart” and we try to embody that slogan out of the office as much as we do in it. As a business in the community, we believe we need to support it and give back as much as we receive; we don’t want to just take a profit, we want to put that money back in to our community. “Our goal is to continually work to make it a better place through volunteering, participating or donating, as well as being on multiple boards of various non-profits. Helping non-profits throughout the community is more crucial now than ever, as funding is constantly being cut from government programs and private donors are no longer cutting the big checks that they used to.

Did You Know?

If you are looking to donate or volunteer with a non-profit that you believe in but you feel like there isn’t really one out there that speaks to you, think again! In New London County alone, there are 1,200 different non-profits…which is an extraordinary number for a county even when compared to the total 20,000 organizations in Connecticut!

We all have a personal connection to something in our lives, and there is definitely one that you can find to match your interests.  If you are passionate in creating awareness and providing services to battle drug addiction or HIV/AIDS, there are countless local organizations that are doing great work like Bethsaida Community, Alliance For Living, and Community Speaks Out. If you are looking to save lives, restore hope and change the future for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault there is Safe Futures as well as Bethsaida. For those of you who have a personal passion for helping people with intellectual disabilities and developmental disorders, there are organizations such as The Lighthouse and Journey Found.  SAVA has also partnered with the United Way numerous times, which presents even more opportunities as they have 21 partner agencies.

We’re constantly out in the community supporting these organizations, and our events are always being pushed through our social media. If you know of an event or a non-profit looking for volunteers or to gain traction for their own upcoming fundraisers, please let our marketing team know and they will advertise for you! SAVA Cares about our clients, our employees, and our community and we are here to help you in any way we can.

Insurance Tip of the WeekEPLI and Cyber and Data Breach

Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) gives your business coverage if the organization is sued by an employee for wrongful termination, discrimination, or harassment. If you have any employees, this is definitely a policy you need in order to protect yourself and your business that you worked so hard to build.

Cyber and Data Breach policies provide coverage if you have a website or any social media, if a hacker goes in and takes personal data from clients, supporters, vendors, etc. This is important because if a breach does occur, you are required by law to notify every one of your clients that their information may have been exposed, even if only one client’s data was accessed. You would also have to monitor each person’s credit for up to a year which could be an extremely expensive hit, but the cyber and data breach policies could protect you and provide you with enough coverage to keep your assets safe. In 2017, Ponemon Institute identified the average cost of a data breach as $3.62 million! Considering the average policy with SAVA is around $1,500 depending on the size of your company and your needs, that’s protection worth having in place.

Call SAVA today for any insurance needs, questions, or thoughts and your favorite agents would love to help you!
