Now that June has arrived, it is time to start thinking about Father’s Day and what to do for dear old Dad this year. June 21st is right around the corner so now is the time to find that perfect something for your dad. How about a hike? There are several great trails near Waterford that can be fun for everyone. Here are some highlights from alltrails.com:
- Millington Trail – a 6-mile loop trail in Devils Hopyard Park near East Haddam, Connecticut that features a waterfall. The trail is rated as easy to moderate in terms of difficulty. People primarily use the trail for camping, hiking & trail running. Perfect for a day out with Dad.
- Bluff Point State Park and Coastal Reserve Trail – a 4-mile loop trail near Groton, Connecticut in a beautiful forest setting. According to reviews, this trail is perfect for a family hike. There are bathrooms located at the beginning of the trail and again in the middle. You can also stop to do some fishing with Dad along the way.
- Pachaug Trail around Beach Pond – if you’re up for a little longer hike with a more moderate difficulty rating hike, Pachaug Trail is a 6.4 mile out and back trail located near Exeter, Rhode Island. Reviewers love the scenery and the wildlife on this trail. Will Dad love it, too?
- Lantern Hill – This 2.6 mile out and back trail near Ledyard, Connecticut can be a great place to not only bring Dad but bring Fido the dog, too. Dogs are allowed if they are on This trail can be challenging and steep in some parts, so be prepared.
