11 Apr Umbrella Coverage
If you’re a homeowner or licensed driver then you have an insurance policy for your home and car. But do you have an umbrella policy? If you don’t, then you should seriously consider purchasing one. The value of an umbrella policy is far greater than the cost of the premium to hold it. It’s essentially a safety net for yourself, your family, and your assets. In the unfortunate event of an accident, whether it occurs in a car or on your property, those policies should cover any liability up to your limits.
But, have you asked yourself ‘what will happen if medical expenses, attorney bills, or repair costs exceed the coverage of my home/auto policy?’
Well, this is a time when an umbrella policy would come in handy. Depending on where the accident took place, the first policy that a claimant would file against is your home or auto. If the costs or expenses exceed your limits of liability, then the umbrella policy would come into play. But, if you didn’t have that umbrella policy, your home, auto, business, wages etc. could be affected.
